Noch im Januar 2010 hat BumpTop eine erste Mac-Version des Schreibtisches in 3D auf den Markt gebracht (ich habe sie damals kurz vorgestellt). Noch lässt sich die kostenlose Version herunter laden, aber damit soll bald Schluss sein:
Today, we have a big announcement to make: we’re excited to announce that we’ve been acquired by Google! This means that BumpTop (for both Windows and Mac) will no longer be available for sale. Additionally, no updates to the products are planned.
For the next week, we’re keeping BumpTop Free available for download at bumptop.com/download to give BumpTop fans one last chance to grab a copy.
Ich persönlich fand die kleine Software ja ziemlich praktisch, konnte mich aber nicht zum Erwerb der Pro-Version durch ringen. Und das freut mich heute ungemein, denn es ist nicht so ganz klar, was die Käufer für die immerhin 29 Dollar noch erwarten dürfen.
Auf jeden Fall bin ich mal gespannt darauf, was Google mit dem Tool vorhat und welche Oberfläche künftig in trendy 3D daher kommt.
